The Friday Informal Seminar Hour, or FISH is a weekly seminar organized by the biology graduate students. It's held every Friday at 3:30pm in the 5th floor lounge (Biology Department, LSC Building).
FISH consists of a fairly informal graduate student or faculty presentation each week. These usually run the spectrum from details of the speaker's research, photos and stories of their field work, to whatever else they feel like ranting about!
The presentation is followed by a question period, and wrapped-up with BioBeer. We encourage both students and faculty to attend these seminars and like to see a big turnout.

BioBeer
BioBeer is a social event held immediately after FISH every Friday (around 4:30pm) in the 5th floor lounge (Biology Department, LSC Building). Various kinds of beer and soft drinks are available for purchase at a low cost, and we encourage mingling with other students and faculty alike. BioBeer provides students with a chance to discuss with the speaker, hang-out with friends, and talk with faculty members in an informal, relaxed setting. While BioBeer officially starts after FISH, beverages are available from 3:30pm onwards...as many students like to present their seminars with a beer in hand!
